BIOSKETCH
Dr. Owen Ngalamika (MBBS, MMed, PhD) is a physician scientist affiliated with the University of Zambia School of Medicine, and the University Teaching Hospital in Zambia. He conducts translational virology research on viral-associated cancers including Kaposi sarcoma caused by the Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpes virus (KSHV) and human papilloma virus-associated penile squamous cell carcinoma. His research focus has been on anti-viral and anti-tumor immunity both in the tumor microenvironment and in the peripheral circulation. He has investigated and published on disease susceptibility for these cancers including correlates of protection, and biomarkers predicting treatment outcomes and disease recurrence.
