Discipline of Virology

BIOSKETCH
A Clinician-Scientist with an interest in diagnostic virology, surveillance and the elimination of viral diseases of public health significance. Khanyi leads clinical and diagnostic virology laboratory services in KZN and is jointly appointed by the University of KwaZulu-Natal and the National Health Laboratory Service as the academic head of department. She is a member of the Network for Genomic Surveillance in South Africa (NGS-SA), the South African National AIDS Council (SANAC) and previously in the Polio Eradication committee of South Africa.
